Miller Bolaños continued his impressive goal-scoring form as Ecuadorian side Emelec opened their Copa Libertadores quarterfinals tie with a 1-0 win over Tigres on Tuesday.

Tigres, who arrived to this game after facing elimination from Santos Laguna in the Liga MX quarterfinals, opted for a five-man defense from the start, and did their best to contain the home-side in the first hour of the game.

But Emelec proved tough opposition for the Mexicans, and Miller Bolaños scored his sixth goal of the tournament in the 64th minute to inflict Tigres their first defeat of the competition.

Both teams will meet again next Tuesday at Tigres’ Estadio Universtiario.
