Queretaro’s fairy-tale season under Victor Manuel Vucetich continued after Queretaro came back from a first-leg defeat to deservedly book their place in the Liga MX final with a 2-0 win over Pachuca.
The 2-2 aggregate scoreline was enough for Queretaro due to their better positioning in the table, and the club qualifies to their first ever Liga MX final in their history.
Angel Sepulveda’s strike 13 minutes into the first half had the hosts dreaming before a rejuvenated Jonathan Bornstein booked Vucetich his record 15th Liga MX final as a manager.
“King Midas” as Vucetich is nicknamed deserves plenty of credit. When Vucetich took over Queretaro, the team was sitting 15th in the table. Now Gallos Blancos has the opportunity to crown themselves Liga MX champion for the first time.
Vucetich’s side will now meet Santos Laguna on Thursday before closing the final at home at the Estadio Corregidora.
