Veracruz were eliminated from the Liguilla on Sunday as Queretaro won 4-3 on aggregate at the Estadio Luis de La Fuente.
The first-leg finished 2-1 in favor of Queretaro and their advantage grew when William da Silva put Victor Manuel Vucetich’s men ahead after 17 minutes.
The hosts begun the second-half well, however, and Edgar Andrade was fortunate to receive a deflection from one of his free-kicks to put Veracruz within one.
In the 83rd minute, Ronaldinho made his presence felt when he launched a free-kick towards goal and was gifted Queretaro’s second. Veracruz goalkeeper, Meliton Hernandez, failed to control as the ball slipped past his hands and into the back of the net.
Julio Furch was quick to get one back, but the goal came too late. At the final whistle, Veracruz’s marvelous season came to an end.
With the result, Queretaro set up a semifinal match-up against Pachuca for a spot in the Liga MX final.
