The Mexico Under-22 national team drew 1-1 to the Ivory Coast in their first game of the 2015 Toulon Tournament.

Mexico started as the better team but failed to punish the African team early. El Tri’s goal didn’t arrive until the 45th minute when Carlos Guzman received the ball at the edge of the box and unleashed a shot at goal. The ball took a small deflection and settled into the back of the net to put Mexico up 1-0.

Twenty minutes later, Jordan Silva served a bad clearance to an opposing player. The Ivory Coast took advantage and Bayo equalized the scoreline.

After the goal, Mexico failed to show the urgency they showed at the start of the game and settled for the 1-1 draw.

Their next game in the tournament will be against China on June 1.
