Toluca extended Tijuana’s run to five games without a victory as Jose Saturnino Cardozo’s men defeated Xolos 2-0 at the Estadio Nemesio Diez on Sunday.

A win for the visitors could have seen the team from the border temporarily climb to the top of the table, but a Wilder Guisao goal after 10 minutes quickly put a stop to their aspirations.

Chances were far and few through the 90 minutes, and in the closing stages of the game, Lucas Lobos made the lead safe for the hosts.

With the result, Toluca moved to sixth in the table and reduced the gap against fifth-place Tijuana to only one point.
