Toluca’s undefeated run at home continued as they held Atlas to a 0-0 draw at the Estadio Nemesio Diez on Sunday.
The game got off to a slow start, with both teams emphasizing a more tactical approach to the game, and in the second-half, the team’s best chances came through long-distance shots that failed to trouble any of the two goalkeepers.
Atlas looked to have earned a penalty in the 78th minute when Jordan Silva handled the ball with his arm inside the box, but after initially pointing at the spot, the referee rescinded the call in controversial circumstances.
Despite the stalemate, both teams moved into liguilla position ahead of four matches to play in the regular season.
Atlas’ next game will be their crucial Copa Libertadores match against Atletico Mineiro on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Toluca will visit Leon at the Nou Camp.
