Hector Herrera and FC Porto’s superb European campaign continued as the Dragões claimed a 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal.
Ricardo Quaresma scored the first goal of the night after only three minutes when Porto were given a penalty for a Manuel Neuer trip on Jackson Martinez.
The same Quaresma doubled the lead inside 10 minutes following a Dante defensive mistake. Quaresma caught the Brazilian defender napping and nudged the ball past Manuel Neuer for his second.
Bayern were gradual in their response but got a goal back through Thiago Alcantara.
Hector Herrera’s best chance of scoring came in the 57th minute. Danilo sent a teasing cross from the right-hand side before the Mexican international’s first-time shot forced a great save from Neuer.
Former Chiapas forward, Jackson Martinez, made the advantage safe on 65 minutes. Martinez latched on to a long ball and finished past Neuer to complete the surprise win for the hosts.
The two teams will meet again next Tuesday at the Allianz Arena.
