Pumas UNAM remained in the race for a place in the Liguilla after a second-half comeback earned Guillermo Vazquez’s men a 3-3 draw against Veracruz at the Estadio Luis de La Fuente on Friday night.
The victory almost looked certain for Veracruz when two goals from Julio Furch and Juan Albin elevated the hosts to a 3-1 lead early in the second-half.
However, Eduardo Herrera, who was responsible for Pumas’ first-half goal, got his second with 10 minutes to go in the game before Ismael Sosa headed home from inside the area to finish the game at 3-3.
The draw moves Veracruz temporarily leveled on points with Tigres and Chivas at the top of the table.
Meanwhile, Pumas briefly occupy the ninth spot with 21 points in 15 matches.
