Atlas crashed out of the Copa Libertadores with a 3-1 defeat to Independiente Santa Fe on Wednesday.

Tomas Boy’s men came into the game needing a 4-0 victory to have any hope of reaching the next round of the tournament, but goals from Omar Perez, Juan Roa, and Yamilson Rivera were enough to see the Colombian side top Group 1.

Atlas was one of two Mexican teams in the group stage of the tournament, with Tigres being the other.

Ricardo Ferretti’s side topped Group 6 and will be facing Club Universitario of Bolivia in the round of 16.

The first-leg will take place on April 28 and the second-leg will be in Mexico on May 5. The victor will play the winner of Emelec and Atletico Nacional in the quarter-finals.
