Watch: Giovani Dos Santos scores but Villarreal crash out of the Europa League

Defending Europa League champions, Sevilla, reached the quarterfinals of the competition by defeating Villarreal 2-1(agg 5-2) at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium on Thursday night. Jonathan Dos Santos played all 90 minutes and Giovani Dos a Santos scored for the Yellow Submarine in the 73rd minute.

Having lost 3-1 in the first-leg, Villarreal needed 3 goals to stay alive in the competition, and in the 69th minute, things went from bad to worse for the visitors when Vicente Iborra netted the breakthrough goal for the the Rojiblancos.

Four minutes later, however, substitute Giovani Dos Santos got one goal back for Villarreal. The Mexican international curled a free-kick past Sergio Rico to give his team some hope.

But in the 82nd minute, Sevilla made the win safe after an unmarked Denis Suarez headed in the Andalusian’s second and guarantee his team a spot in the quarterfinals.
