Carlos Sanchez rescued a 1-1 draw for River Plate as Los Millionarios settled for a draw against Tigres in the Copa Libertadores on Thursday night.
Marcelo Gallardo’s side made their return to the El Monumental, after a six year absence from the Libertadores, but it was Tigres who seized the initiative when Joffre Guerron nodded in the breakthrough after 40 minutes.
In the second half, former Puebla player, Carlos Sanchez, produced a brilliant goal to help hand River Plate a point.
The visitors, however, will be the happier with the result as River Plate were unable to capitalize on their late chances.
