After five weeks, former Valencia manager, Juan Antonio Pizzi, got his first win of the season thanks to a 3-1 win over Pumas UNAM.
Mauro Boselli, Miguel Sabah, and Martin Bravo netted the goals for the visitors, while Eduardo Herrera scored the only goal for the home-side.
The game only had to wait three minutes for the first big chance of the game when Miguel Sabah created an opening and dragged a shot inches wide of the far post.
Pumas responded quickly, though, after Dante Lopez hit the post from a shot inside the edge of the box.
But Leon looked lively on the break, and in the 23rd minute, the in-form Mauro Boselli open the scoring. Fernando Navarro put a through ball for the Argentine, who looped to the side of the goalkeeper and put the ball to the back of the net.
Leon were soon celebrating a second when Miguel Sabah headed from a corner, leaving Alfredo Saldivar with no chance.
The game turned a bit uneventful in the second half with both teams looking unimaginative.
In the 74th minute, however, Eduardo Herera got one back for the hosts. Herrera met a rebound from the right and finished towards William Yarbrough’s bottom left corner to make things 2-1.
The goal saw the game immediately open up, and three minutes later, Martin Bravo drilled a shot to the far post to double the lead against his former team.
In the closing stages, Pumas nearly pulled a goal back after Herrera sent a good pass for Omar Islas. The Pumas youngster had time but his shot went racing wide.
At the end, the final result saw both teams finish the week with five points.
