Monterrey earned Antonio Mohamed a victorious debut as Edwin Cardona’s late strike gave the Rayados a 2-1 win over Queretaro at the Estadio Tecnologico on Saturday night.

With Ronaldinho unavailable due to stomach issues, the defeat puts further pressure on Queretaro manager, Ignacio Ambriz, who could be facing dismissal.

Pablo Barrera had fired Monterrey into the lead only for Orbelin Pineda to level two minutes later.

But Antonio Mohamed’s late substitution, Edwin Cardona, made his mark by scoring a stunner to give the hosts all three points in the closing stages.

Pablo Barrera 63′

Orbelin Pineda 65′

Edwin Cardona 89′
