Chivas scored a late equalizer to earn a 2-2 draw with Dorados de Sinaloa in their opening game of the Copa MX, while Queretaro and Ronaldinho suffered their first loss of the tournament.
Aldo De Nigris put Chivas ahead in the 59th minute when he drilled the ball into the back of the net from a nice Erick “Cubo” Torres pass. (You can see below.)
Dorados managed to get an equalizer through a penalty, before having a man sent off for a bad challenge.
Three minutes from time, however, Angulo caught Chivas off-guard on a breakaway to give the visitors the surprising lead.
But when it looked like Dorados was headed for an unlikely victory, Gallardo scored from a set-piece to make it 2-2, much to the home fans’ relief.
Meanwhile, Ronaldinho made his first appearance of 2015 in Queretaro’s 1-0 defeat to Atletico San Luis. Diego Cervantes scored the only goal in the 12th minute to hand the second-tier side their first home victory of the competition.
In other activity of the Liga MX, Pumas defeated Zacatepec with a Dante Lopez goal and Tijuana defeated Ascenso MX champions, Necaxa, 3-1. Joe Corona made his return from injury and was responsible for Tijuana’s equalizer.
