It wasn’t meant to be for Cruz Azul as Real Madrid demolished the Mexican side 4-0 in today’s Club World Cup semifinal. After some logistical changes to the match, the game took place in Marrakesh to a packed house.

Real Madrid came out on the attack from the start. Sergio Ramos scored first after the Cruz Azul goalkeeper, Jesus Corona, came out wrongly on a cross from a free-kick.

In the 36th minute, Carvajal eased past Cruz Azul’s left back and played the ball down to Benzema for the 2-0.

Cruz Azul certainly had their chances. A minute later, Mariano Pavone was brought down in the box, but Gerardo Torrado had his penalty saved.

Five minutes into the second half,  Cristiano Ronaldo sent in a cross for Bale to put things 3-0. It was an easy day at the office for Real Madrid.

Isco put the icing on the cake in the 72nd minute with a beautiful goal and the 4-0.

Real Madrid now await the winner between San Lorenzo and Auckland City. Cruz Azul will face the loser in the other semifinal for the third place match.
