Atlas have decided not to pursue their purchase option on Maikon Leite, and the Brazilian will be heading back to Palmeiras. On the other hand, Tomas Boy will be manager of Atlas for another 6 months as he negotiated a decision with the Atlas board.
All of this comes a few days after Atlas was eliminated from Monterrey in the Liga MX quarter-finals.
Leite was an important part in Atlas’s impressive season where they finished third in the overall table, but the Atlas board judged that the money Palmeiras was asking for the winger was too much.
Likewise, Tomas Boy had a few off the field scuffles, and after losing an advantage to Monterrey in the Quarter-finals, his job looked to be threatened. However, the Atlas board have decided to hand Tomas Boy an extra 6-months to his contract.
Atlas now look ahead to a busy 2015 campaign where they will be part of the Copa Libertadores.
