Necaxa clinched their ticket to the Ascenso MX Final in a bid to return to the top flight of Mexican soccer. Necaxa lost 2-1 to Mineros de Zacatecas, but by way of an away goal managed to earn their qualification. Necaxa had obtained a 1-0 win at home in Aguascalientes, and went into this game knowing that an away goal would complicate things for the home team.

It was a bright start for Mineros who went ahead by 2 goals in a span of 3 minutes. It wouldn’t be until the 83rd minute when Necaxa would score a lethal away goal to seal their entrance into the final. Necaxa now awaits the winner between Coras Tepic and Altamira in the other semifinal.
