Mexico’s Women National team advances to semifinal of Central American and Caribbean Games

It took Mexico 86 minutes to score the winner against Haiti to confirm their advancement to the semifinals of the Women’s soccer tournament in the Central American and Caribbean games taking place in Veracruz, Mexico.

Stephany Mayor’s goal gave Mexico the 1-0 win which earned Mexico second place of their group with 7 points. They will now face Costa Rica in the semifinal for a shot at the Gold Medal game. Yesterday, Mexico’s Men’s national team also clinched a spot in the semifinals.

It is worth mentioning that Mexico’s participation in this tournament also works as preparation for the Women’s World Cup that will be taking place in Canada in 2015.
