Mexico reached the gold medal match of the Central American and Caribbean games with a dramatic 7-6 win in penalties.

The game ended even after 90 minutes, and extra time was needed. It was Yordan Santana who broke the deadlock in the 96th minute to put Cuba in front of the scoreboard.

Jonathan Espericueta would go on to miss a penalty in the 112th minute. When all hope seemed extinguished for Mexico, Raul Lopez came through with a free-kick to put Mexico on level terms in the last minute of extra-time.

The game went all the way to sudden death in penalties where the Mexican goalkeeper, Lajud, would deny Cuba their 7th penalty to give Mexico the victory.

Mexico will now play Venezuela on Friday with the gold medal on the line.
